DC Trip - Volume III

Saturday

**my apologies for such a delayed response, work has been so crazy I haven't gotten a chance to take a lunch to update**

This was our tourist-y day.  We woke up, got ready, and took the metro (the first of many firsts for me that trip) into the city.  Susan and Sarah chose our lunch destination since they hadn't gone yet - we went to Good Stuff Eatery for lunch.  HOLY MOLY this was by far the BEST burger I have ever eaten.  We shared fries and two milkshakes - chocolate and toasted marshmellow.  Heavenly is an appropriate adjective for this place.  Everything is natural, locally grown, and just amazing.  I can't wait to go back.
After Good Stuff, we walked to the local market and just did some perusing.  There was everything from locally grown produce to paintings.  I am a little disappointed there wasn't a booth to purchase British-style hats/fascinators, but it was so much fun, nonetheless.
We hopped back onto the metro and visited the American History Museum.  This museum was free, so we just went in and hit the highlights.  We saw the original Star Spangled Banner, First Ladies' Exhibit (probably my favorite), and Julia Childs' Kitchen.  To continue our tourist-y day, we went over to the White House and National Monument.
This was as close as we got to Barack

Epic fail on trying to hold up the Monument

After the Monument picture, we were pretty much exhausted, so it was time to go back and rest like old folks.  This is where things got interesting.  We went to the nearest street to CROSS IT and take the metro home, and before I knew it, Susan had walked straight into traffic (heart palpatations began), and hailed a TAXI like a champ.  Being from Chester, I had no idea what she was doing, but there we had it - a taxi came right up and whisked us away to their apt.  Now why do you ask why this is such a big deal?  Because, this is my very first time in a taxi!  I told you it was a weekend full of firsts.  Naturally, I had to document this occasion, so here's my first taxi ride:

Once we made it back, Susan and Sarah ordered The King's Speech to watch, and I promptly dozed off.  It was such a lovely nap.  For dinner, we went to the most delish (but not as good as Good Stuff Eatery) mexican restaurant, and shared a pitcher of margs:
and they were most delightful.  We had some DSP-ers over for some games which really turned into lots of talking and laughing :)  Upon going to bed, I apparently tried to snuggle up on Susan's chest.  Thanks Suzie for the most interesting evening ;)
