So this year for Memorial Day weekend, we went with Kelly and Derek camping. I am not a big fan of camping, so I basically let everybody else plan it and I just showed up. We left on Friday afternoon, and arrived at our destination - the Mallard Duck Campground in Staunton, VA. Very shortly after arrival, we departed. We took one look at that place and new it just wasn't meant to be. We just wouldn't fit in. The Mallard Duck wasn't your typical campground, it appeared to be more of a permanent-residence for the Confederate-flag-bearing, jort-wearing individuals. Very redneck. We regrouped at the local McDonald's and found a KOA Campground called Walnut Hill. It was a tad more expensive, but so worth it.

As soon as we drove up to our campsite, it started to rain.
 |
| The radar showed rain for the majority of the evening, so we didn't have much choice but to brave the elements and put up the tent |
After some hard work, we finally had shelter!

| Our humble abode for the next 2 nights |
After getting the tent up, we sat around and played cards until the rain stopped. We fixed a delicious dinner of chicken kabobs, grilled corn, and peaches. To make for an even more eventful weekend, Derek and Daniel consumed way too much peach moonshine-
Kelly and I finished out the night early, while Derek and Daniel stayed up with their new friends peach moonshine and our neighbors. We spent the next day napping, exploring the campground, and playing cards. We had an unfortunate thing happen the second night - a citronella candle spilt all over me. The good news was I was bug-free :) We fixed spicy-blackened shrimp for dinner (absolutely delicious) and saved room for lots of s'mores. All-in-all it was a fun weekend. I don't think I would last more than 2 nights camping, but I would do it again. Some fun memories included the campground police Cliff, Asher and Jackson, shadow-puppets, lots of asshole and golf, and tons of laughing.

Note: citronella candle wax all over my right leg |
