Not-so M.S. - Rag Wreath

A super-cute and very easy wreath!  You can use any combination of fabric to create literally any fun wreath.  A few preliminary things to get out of the way-

How much fabric?
Hmm... this is a tough one.  It really depends mainly on the type of wreath-form you have.  I had a very thick straw wreath, so I cut my strips into 1.5"-2" x 15" strips.  I purchased 1 yd of each fabric and it made two wreaths with leftovers.  It depends on how many types of fabric you use (I had 4 different).  I would recommend looking at the remnants at Joann's (cheaper and just the right amount!) - especially for white.

What type of wreath?
Literally any kind.  If you want skinny, use wire.  If you want thick, find the straw kind.  You can make big, small, circle, square.  Let your imagination run wild!

So let's get this party started:
Supplies: fabric of choice, a good pair of fabric scissors, wreath form
Cut fabric.  The best way to test is to get a piece of string and test out on your wreath.  For the thick straw wreaths, I did 1.5"-2" x 15" strips.  This cutting is the worst part.

Voila (ps, I didn't use the middle maroon sparkly stuff)

Start tying knots!  Literally, that's all you do.  Make sure you get the knots really close together so you don't see any of the wreath form underneath.  This can be tricky, so be careful!  I had a pattern of all the fabric going to make it easier and to look even.

  1. Love the wreaths!! I'm thinking I should make ones for different seasons for my office door--I don't want to hang at the apt and them get messed! Perfect gift idea!! :)
