Not-so M.S. - Summer Mantle Decorations

We recently painted our living room and kitchen (one big room).  I know I need to post pictures... but that's for another day.  We originally had a mirror above the mantle, but I didn't really like it - and we all know how much I LOVE to decorate for the seasons... so I really wanted something that was easily interchangeable.  I found on Pinterest that folks use curtain rods to hang things from, and I thought how perfect for above the mantle!

Here's the current summer set-up:

Kelly & I went to Hobby Lobby one day and I found these cute summer lanterns and made my own "S" masterpiece in the center
Here's the how-to on my "S" masterpiece... sooo simple, and it can be adapted to pretty much anything
You will need: Pretty fabric (I only had 1/4 of a yard, about $2.50), Canvas (2 pack for $6), Wooden Letter (Clearance for $1.25), and Paint (between $.49-$1.50 depending on the brand)

Paint your wooden letter... it takes a few coats

Prep your fabric

Using a staple gun, staple the fabric over one of the canvas's.  You need to make sure you alternate sides so you get it even

There you have it!  Pretty enough as it is... but make sure you add your letter

I found some pretty rope at Hobby Lobby and just stapled that on.  Make sure to double it up, so when you put it on the curtain rod, it doesn't try to swing around.
